Rockland — Oceanside High School held its bimonthly “Pride Assembly” Oct. 20, honoring 10 students chosen by faculty members for representing all those things that, combined, make OHS outstanding. The awards were presented in an all-school assembly.
Also that day, custodian Bernie Jones was honored for his nearly 20 years of work in the school district and at the high school. Jones recently announced his retirement.
Science teacher Josh Mahar was named the recipient of the “Influential Teacher” award.
Students, parents and community members nominated influential educators who positively affect the lives of Oceanside students. Selection was made by senior class officers based on the merit of insights presented in the anonymous nomination forms. Mahar has taught science at OHS for 18 years.
